Firmware Compatibility for ScreenBeam 1000EDUG2 and FLEX Hardware Revision 2 (HW REV 2)
Overview
Starting May 1, 2026, ScreenBeam began shipping an updated hardware revision (HW REV 2) for the following models:
- ScreenBeam 1000EDUG2
- ScreenBeam FLEX
This update includes internal component changes while maintaining the same feature set and performance expectations as previous versions.
How to Identify HW REV 2 Units
You can identify the new hardware revision using the following:
- Device label: Displays “HW REV 2”
- Serial number prefix: Begins with CBKH
- Central/Local Management HW ID: 11.8.1.7 or 11.8.1.5
Firmware Compatibility Requirement
HW REV 2 devices require firmware version 11.x.20.2 or later.
- ✅ Supported: 11.x.20.2 and newer
- ❌ Not supported: Any firmware version prior to 11.x.20.2
Important: Downgrading to earlier firmware versions is not supported on HW REV 2 devices. Attempts to install unsupported firmware will fail.
Additionally, all HW REV 2 units are shipped with firmware version 11.x.20.2 or later pre-installed, ensuring compatibility out of the box.
Features and Performance
There are no changes to features, functionality, or expected performance between HW REV 2 and prior hardware revisions. You can deploy and operate these units the same way as existing devices in their environment.
Deployment Considerations
- Ensure your firmware deployment strategy aligns with the minimum required version (11.x.20.2).
- In mixed environments (older and newer hardware revisions), standardize on 11.x.20.2 or later to maintain compatibility.
- Avoid using legacy firmware images when provisioning or re-imaging HW REV 2 units.
