How to use ScreenBeam Annotator with Interactive Touchscreen Displays

This article applies to ScreenBeam 1100 Plus, 1000EDU G2, and FLEX.

The ScreenBeam Annotator feature is available on ScreenBeam 1000 EDU Gen 2, 1100 Plus, and Flex when connected to an interactive touchscreen display. It allows users to freeze the displayed content, including wirelessly shared content, and annotate directly on the screen using built-in pen and highlighter tools.

Prerequisites Setup

1. Connect the Touchscreen Display

  • Connect the ScreenBeam receiver to the interactive display using:

    • HDMI cable (for video)

    • USB A-to-B touch cable (to enable touch-back control)

  • Power on the ScreenBeam receiver.

  • Select the corresponding HDMI input on the display.

2. Enable Annotator Feature

  • Access the receiver’s Local Management Interface (LMI) or Central Management System (CMS).

  • Navigate to Interactive Screen Widgets.

  • Ensure Annotator is set to Enable.

3. Locate the On-Screen Menu

  • On the interactive touchscreen display, look for the menu tab on the right side of the screen.

4. Open the Menu

  • Tap the menu tab to expand the widget panel.

5. Freeze and Annotate

  • Tap the snowflake (Freeze) icon.

  • The screen will freeze (including any active wireless presentation).

  • The Annotator toolkit will automatically appear.

  • Use the pen and highlighter tools to mark up the screen as needed.

6. Resume Live Content

  • Tap the Unfreeze icon.

  • The display will return to the live, active screen.

Important Notes

  • Annotated (inked) content is temporary.

  • Annotations are not saved on the ScreenBeam receiver.

  • Markups are not transferable, exportable, or shareable to external devices or storage.

  • Once un-freeze or the session changes, the annotations are cleared.
