Known Issue: Google Cast Disconnects When Opening Google Slides
This article applies to ScreenBeam 1xxx-Series receivers supporting Google Cast
Overview
When using Google Chrome's Cast tab feature to mirror content to a ScreenBeam receiver, the casting session may unexpectedly disconnect when opening a Google Slides presentation.
This issue occurs when a user starts casting from the Google Slides homepage and then opens a presentation while casting is active.
However, casting works normally when the Google Slides presentation is opened before initiating the Google Cast connection.
Symptoms
- Google Cast disconnects when opening a Google Slides presentation during an active casting session.
- The ScreenBeam display stops showing the shared content.
- Users must manually reconnect to resume screen sharing.
Workaround
To prevent the disconnection, follow these steps:
- Open Google Chrome and navigate to Google Slides.
- Open the Google Slides presentation you want to share.
- Wait for the presentation to finish loading.
- In Chrome, select Cast from the browser menu.
- Under Sources, select Cast tab.
- Select your ScreenBeam receiver to begin sharing.
Important: Open the Google Slides presentation before starting the casting session.
Additional Information
ScreenBeam is investigating this behavior to determine whether it is related to Google Chrome's casting session management or the ScreenBeam Google Cast receiver implementation.
This issue does not prevent users from sharing Google Slides presentations when the recommended workaround is followed.
