How to setup 1100 Plus with In-Room PC and share AV devices for BYOM

This configuration supports an in-room PC system and wireless Bring Your Own Meeting (BYOM).

  • In-room PC for non-BYOD users
  • Wireless presentation and video conferencing with ScreenBeam Conference
Hardware Requirements
  • Windows/macOS Room PC
  • ScreenBeam 1100 Plus version 11.1.17.x
  • ScreenBeam USB Pro Switch
  • Auto-sensing HDMI Switcher
  • All-in-one USB video bar

Notes: An Auto-sensing HDMI Switcher is highly recommended for routing instead of passing the PC's video signal through ScreenBeam 1100P's HDMI input.  This will allow the in-room PC to maintain the existing user experience and can go to sleep or screen saver mode.

Wiring Connection Steps

On the USB Switch

  1. Connect the USB cable from the video bar to the USB Switch Device port
    1. Make sure the video bar is connected to its own power supply
  2. Connect the USB Switch Host Input 1 port to the in-room PC using the provided USB cable
  3. Connect the USB Switch Host Input 2 port to the 1100 Plus using the USB cable provided with the USB Switch
    1. Note: It is recommended to use the middle USB 2.0 port first. If peripherals fail to detect, try the outside USB 3.0 (blue) port and lastly try the USB port next to the power supply.

On the in-room PC

  1. Connect an HDMI cable from the in-room PC HDMI Out port to the HDMI Input 1 of the HDMI Switcher

On the 1100 Plus

  1. Connect an HDMI cable from the 1100 Plus HDMI Out port to the HDMI Input 2 of the HDMI Switcher

On the Auto-sensing HDMI Switcher

  1. Connect an HDMI cable from the HDMI Switcher HDMI Output to the display
Additional Considerations
  1. Configure the 1100 Plus HDMI Port Power Management setting to ScreenBeam USB Pro Switch
    1. This sets the ScreenBeam HDMI Out port to turn off immediately so the in-room PC screen can be seen on the display
    2. The ScreenBeam HDMI Out will activate upon a connection attempt from the user
  2. Consider customizing the Windows PC lock screen image to include connection instructions for ScreenBeam
