How to force a firmware upgrade or downgrade using a USB thumb drive

This article applies to the ScreenBeam 1xxx-Series, 960 and 750 products.

Notes:

  • This method will reset the ScreenBeam settings to default.
  • Requires a FAT 32 formatted USB drive

Instructions

  1. Download the desired firmware and extract the "install.img" file to the USB thumb drive's root directory as shown in the image below:
    1-folder
  2. Disconnect the ScreenBeam from power.
  3. Plug your USB flash drive into the ScreenBeam (while still powered down).
    1. Press and hold the multifunction button (with the blue LED) on the top of the ScreenBeam and insert the power adapter cable.
    2. When you see the message "Please wait for USB update" you can release the multifunction button.
  4. The ScreenBeam will display various loading screens and may reboot.
  5. You'll know that the updates are finished when the ScreenBeam returns to the Ready to Connect screen and the new firmware version is displayed in the lower right corner of the screen.
  6. At this point, you can remove the USB flash drive. After downgrading the firmware, you should remove the profile for the ScreenBeam from Windows.
