AirPlay mirroring troubleshooting

This article applies to the following ScreenBeam products: ScreenBeam 1xxx-Series and 960

Connection tutorials:

How to connect from iOS Video

How to connect from macOS Video

Configuration Information

Configure ScreenBeam for Apple Devices

When casting from an Apple product you use Airplay, the method of AirPlay we use at ScreenBeam is AirPlay over infrastructure, this means the signal is sent over the network. Some configuration may be required so that this will work properly, there are two configuration models to see these models click here.

If your ScreenBeam is on a separate VLAN you may need to set up Service IDs

The ScreenBeam uses the infrastructure version of AirPlay, this means that the traffic is sent over your network.  If the ScreenBeam is on a different VLAN than the clients that are casting you may need to add a service ID so that the network equipment will pass the data, you will also need to set your router up to pass mDNS packets. Those IDs can be found here.

Troubleshooting and usage

How do I extend my macOS desktop?

Simply connect to the ScreenBeam, then select the Screen Mirroring icon and click Use as Separate Display.

iOS native screen mirroring "video failed to load" issue is displayed on the device.

When playing an online video on an iOS device while screen mirroring, you may encounter a "video failed to load" message on the display connected to the ScreenBeam. Please check for the following:

  1. Make sure the ScreenBeam receiver is connected to a network with Internet access

  2. If the network includes a web security solution (i.e. Cisco WSA), the permission must be set to allow the stream to go through. Please contact your network admin and refer to the security solution provider to resolve this issue

  3. If you've completed the first two steps and are still encountering the error, disable iOS Push Mode in the Features tab of the ScreenBeam

Pin settings for macOS and iOS

If you choose a random PIN you will need to enter the PIN each time you connect. When the static PIN is selected you will only need to enter the PIN on the first connection.

Black screen with "No Video Signal Detected" message

macOS and iOS devices may sometimes not play video if screen mirroring is initiated in-app. If this occurs on a macOS device, move your mouse to initiate a wireless display to start. If this occurs on an iOS device, reconnect to ScreenBeam by opening Control Center, selecting Screen Mirroring, and selecting the receiver from the list.
