ScreenBeam Wireless Conferencing - Known Issues & Limitations

This article applies to the following ScreenBeam products: 1100 Plus & Conference software

Known Issues & Limitations

  1. Hardware setup
    1. The USB camera should be connected to the USB 2.0 port on the ScreenBeam receiver. The USB microphone and or speaker can be connected to either the USB 3.0 or 2.0 port.
    2. For an All-in-one USB Conference Camera or video bar with external power, a power adapter must be plugged in. ScreenBeam USB port will not be able to power All-in-one devices.
    3. A Powered USB Hub is required for any All-in-one USB Conference Cameras that do not have a dedicated power supply OR certain USB Cameras that require additional power (e.g., Jabra Panacast).
    4. In the scenario where 2 or more USB Peripheral Devices (e.g., Camera + Speakerphone) are connected to the receiver and either device isn?t working reliably, a Powered USB Hub is recommended.
    5. When deploying a Powered USB Hub, it's recommended to connect the hub to the USB 2.0 port on the ScreenBeam receiver. The Powered USB Hub can be 2.0 or 3.0 (i.e., Amazon Basics 4 Port USB to USB 3.0 Hub with 5V/2.5A Power Adapter).
    6. ScreenBeam 1100 Plus receiver's USB 3.0 port can be used for touchscreen display but shall not be used for USB camera, microphone, or speaker.
    7. Deployment configuration that includes a USB webcam and the TV speakers (internal or external) is currently not supported at this time. Since the TV speakers and microphone are not from one device, the setup is likely to produce an audio echo to the remote participants.
  2. Receiver configuration
    1. If ScreenBeam Integrated Zoom service is enabled before ScreenBeam Conference service is installed, a manual restart may be required for the new service and instructions to load.
    2. Both ScreenBeam Conference and Integrated Zoom conference services cannot be enabled concurrently at this time. Both can be installed, but if one is enabled then the other will be disabled.
    3. ScreenBeam Conference service only works when the receiver is in the following configurations:
      1. Standard Wireless Display
      2. Single View display mode
      3. Landscape orientation
  3. Software installation
    1. Windows Defender SmartScreen may try to prevent the ScreenBeam Conference software installation.  Click on More Info and select Run Anyway.
    2. Expect the Windows installer to automatically terminate the web conferencing application to complete the installation. Users will be prompted before the uninstaller terminates the application(s).
    3. Expect the Windows uninstaller to automatically terminate the ScreenBeam Conference application and any apps or browser that is holding the in-room microphone or camera device. Users will be prompted before the uninstaller terminates the application(s).
    4. Uninstallers cannot proceed if Windows Sound Settings is using the in-room microphone. The user needs to manually change the in-room mic to the system mic for the uninstallation to proceed.
  4. Audio and video
    1. Windows 10 Miracast max resolution is 1080p30 when ScreenBeam Conference is enabled.
    2. Miracast duplicate from a 4K-capable laptop may experience unclear text onscreen. Go to Windows 11/10 Settings > Display to adjust the Resolution to 1920 x 1080 and the Scaling to 125%.
    3. When both a USB webcam and USB speakerphone are detected, only the Mic on the USB speakerphone will be functional.
    4. All audio will output through the USB speaker if an All-in-one USB video bar or a USB speakerphone is connected to ScreenBeam.
    5. After the software installation is complete, the system?s audio and or camera setting may default to the In-room (ScreenBeam) device.
  5. Feature and performance
    1. Upon connecting to ScreenBeam Conference, the web conferencing application may not select the correct microphone, speakers, or camera for the meeting. Be sure to check the device selection in the web conference application settings. Help text and screenshots are provided in ScreenBeam Conference.
    2. Upon disconnecting from ScreenBeam Conference, the web conferencing application does not return to the system?s microphone, speakers, or camera. Be sure to check the device selection in the web conference application settings for your next meeting.  A help message is displayed after each meeting in ScreenBeam Conference.
    3. Removal and reconnecting (hot plug) of the USB Peripheral Device is not recommended during a conference session.  This could result in ScreenBeam failing to recognize the device and a restart is necessary.
    4. A 300-500ms audio delay is expected from the participants using ScreenBeam Conference.
