VPNs and ScreenBeam - Unable to Connect

This article applies to the following ScreenBeam products: ScreenBeam 1xxx-Series, 960 and 750

VPNs are used to create a level of security by making client device network connections private. Most VPNs, by default, will not allow more than one predefined network connection when the VPN is active.

Miracast uses a virtual wireless network connection and may be blocked when using a VPN. The client device will be able to discover a receiver, however, will not be able to establish a connection.

To test:

  1. Disconnect the client device from the VPN
  2. Hit Windows key + K to open the Connect Menu
  3. Select the ScreenBeam and click connect.
If your connection is successful, the VPN will need to have split tunneling enabled to allow Miracast while your PC is connected to the ScreenBeam.
