How to share screen using ScreenBeam BrowserCast
This article applies to ScreenBeam 1100 Plus, FLEX, and 1000EduG2 products.
ScreenBeam BrowserCast lets users wirelessly share their screen using a supported web browser — Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome, Safari, or Firefox. This feature is available from firmware version 11.x.19.0 and later.
Enable BrowserCast
- Sign in to your ScreenBeam management page locally or through CMS Enterprise v4.4.16.0 or later.
- Go to the Features section.
- Turn on the BrowserCast feature.
- Set your preferred PIN code refresh interval.
Getting Connected
- Ensure your laptop is connected to a network that can access the ScreenBeam receiver.
- Follow the instructions and PIN code displayed on your screen.
- Open your browser and visit screenbeam.me
- Enter the PIN code as shown on the instructions.
- Choose your preferred sharing option.
BrowserCast Requirements
ScreenBeam Receiver
- Ethernet*: 1Gbps or
- Wi-Fi*: 802.11ac 5GHz (recommended for best performance)
* Internet is required.
User Device
- Laptop or PC: Windows 10 (21H2+), Windows 11 (22H2+), macOS (12+), or ChromeOS (130+)
- Wi-Fi Internet connection: 802.11ac 5GHz with at least 80% signal strength
- Supported web browser: Microsoft Edge 115+, Google Chrome 115+, Safari (macOS) 16.4+, or Firefox 115+

Important
- On the latest versions of macOS, administrative policies may prevent screen sharing. To resolve this, enable browser WebRTC access by going to System Settings > Privacy & Security > Screen Recording.

Admin policies on Chromebooks may block screen sharing.

Endpoint security apps may block WebRTC (CrowdStrike, Zscaler, Netskope, Palo Alto GlobalProtect, Cisco Umbrella, etc.).
- VPN software can disrupt BrowserCast by rerouting traffic through remote gateways, hiding local LAN access, or blocking the UDP ports WebRTC needs. This often results in failed connections or poor video performance. For best results, users should disable VPN during casting or use split tunneling that allows local subnet access and WebRTC traffic.
Feature Limitations
- BrowserCast offers an alternative screen sharing solution to OS-native protocols like Miracast, AirPlay, and Google Cast.
- Extended desktop (screen extension) is not supported with BrowserCast.
- Mobile browsers, including those on iOS and Chrome for Android, are not compatible.
- ScreenBeam Conference is not supported by BrowserCast connection.
Known Issues
- ScreenBeam BrowserCast does not work when using Local Wi-Fi AP
- BrowserCast does not work on ScreenBeam 1100 Plus with Conference enabled and may lock up the receiver.
- BrowserCast may not work for Firefox browser on macOS.
- BrowserCast is currently not available if the receiver is configured to Multi-View mode.
- BrowserCast URL and PIN are not available when the receiver is playing signage content, or in Display Off/ScreenSaver, or in Quick Switch mode with an active connection.
